About us
Lights on Elizabeth began in 2023, bringing the joy and wonder of Christmas to our community with a dazzling display of Christmas lights.
As a family who loves Christmas, community and technology, we started by seeing other people do light shows synced to music, and we decided that we’d give it a go. We then bought some equipment and lights and started getting it all ready. We got lots of help from the wonderful community of people using the xLights program and our lights would not be the same without their generosity.
We aim to spread Christmas cheer and foster community spirit. We love seeing out light display bring joy to friends, families, and neighbours, creating lasting memories and inspiring others to embrace the magic of the season. We decided to add some interactivity to our light displays, so the community gets to choose the next song that gets played.
This year, as well as having people be able to listen by tuning their radio to 103.3fm, they can get music played while they are watching out the front by pressing the ‘nose’ of the Kangaroo to turn the speakers on for a few minutes.
The kids have decided they have wanted to create an opportunity to give back to their community and so decided to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis Queensland. They will have homemade lemonade available on Friday and Saturday evenings in December (between 6pm and 8:30pm), to encourage support of the cause.
We have first hand experienced the support of Cystic Fibrosis Queensland through the provision of a trampoline to aid daily physiotherapy needs as well as boredom buster bags to provide a little entertainment when in hospital.
Please know there is absolutely no expectation or pressure to donate. If donating would place a financial burden on you, we kindly ask that you simply enjoy the lights and festivities. However, if you do have the capacity to give, your support will make a meaningful difference and is greatly appreciated.
We would love for you to join us throughout December to experience the magic. Whether you're a local resident or just passing through, our lights are sure to bring a smile to your face. The hours are 6:00 to 9:30 from Sunday to Thursday and will run from 6:00 to 10:00 on Friday and Saturday’s. Don’t forget our homemade lemonade is available from 6:00 to 8:30 on Friday and Saturday nights only.
